The Municipal Museum of Povoa de Varzim, created in 1937, maintains its roots in local history and ethnography. The Museum grew significantly with the opening of two poles, associated with important patrimonial resources of the municipality, the Interpretive Center of Cividade of Terroso and the Museum Center of the Romanesque church of S. Pedro de Rates.
